I Don't Know About Community Networks,
But I Know What I Like
The concept of the exhibition was to place locally based artists, selcted by open submission, into the Community Network For Manchester, whose meetings Alison Kershaw had attended for a number of years. This network was formed to give geographic and themed communities a say in delivery of local services, by acting as an interface with local government - a voice for the third sector and voluntary groups.
The selected artists were asked to respond to one of the themes of CN4M: culture / transport / children / health / employment / environment) OR to respond the idea of community networks and CN4M in particular.
The resulting works were then each exhibited in a community venue, such as community centres, an FE College, Church Halls, a learning centre and Manchester Town Hall
Audiences were offered a guide map to visit these centres and a bus tour was organised. Finally all the art works were curated together at the exhibition One And All at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester
The artists were
Jil Moore, Simon Grennan &Christorpher Sperandio, Hafsah Naib, Andrew Wilson, Joe Richardson(UHC) , Joe Lewington and William Titley
funded by CN4M and Arts Council England
