Dancing The Davids is a durational performance based on Adele's experiences of being a pop music fan, dancing - and the pain she experienced growing up in the 1970s and early 80s between the ages of 12 and 22. In the piece a marathon dancing-in-your-bedroom takes place. Adele reacts to the music stream in an expressive, intuitive dance.
The audience look through the two way mirror into the inner space of the dancer whilst hearing the Davids: Bowie, Cassidy, Byrne and Essex through headphones. Surrounding them are poster images of the four singers as they are now. In the room with Adele are images of the Davids then and a picture of her screaming when she played an extra on the film Stardust, filmed in Manchester at the age of 14
