During our visit to the Atkinson last week we saw a small representation of the the work of the photographer Tag Devlin who worked with people experiencing dementia in Liverpool and created images and interviews with them that represent their experience I'd love to have seen the pictures in their full scale.
Last week I made a journey with Carl to Warrington to meet designer John Mcleod and also went to the Warrington Museum to meet curator Derek Dick to talk about some of our ideas for Carl Peploe Archive / Exhibition / Folly. Carl really enjoyed going to the park at Orford, where we were able to sit in the sun and chat with cup of tea. Everywhere we go, I am trying to record interviews with Carl, capturing some of his stories - which are hilarious - and sometimes shocking
I can't say much, but Adele and I had a great meeting last week with artist Humberto Velez (Manchester / Panama) and local historian Dominique Tessier. We are talking about an International project for later this year. The work will look at why we are dissociated, histories of colonialism and mental illness, the body, race and healing Heady topics!
Adele and I are looking forward to meeting curators and librarians at The Atkinson in Southport next week to discuss our R-Age project about dementia and possible developments of the project in Sefton as part of heir At The Library artists in libraries initiative.
